A healthy US$512 million is being invested in infrastructure by Chile in its region IV. This region is also known as Coquimbo and will benefit from total of 25 projects across 15 districts, reports Business News Americas. Key projects include upgrading road and highway networks to improve access to a number of high-tourism areas, and to better traffic flow. The investment will be provided by the public works ministry, MOP, the housing ministry, and the regional government. Most of these funds will help finance road concession projects, totalling 400km of roads and highways in the area, including their maintenance and operation, over 15 years. Projects will include the concession of the La Serena-Vallenar highway stretch; the expansion of the Ovalle-La Serena highway; and the Illapel-region IV connection.
