Mexico increases 2008 highway budget

A substantial budget worth some US$2.8 billion has been allotted to Mexico’s communications and transport ministry (SCT) for its 2008 highways budget. Nearly 25% will be for road maintenance, a substantial increase from the 2007 budget, according to Business News Americas. Meanwhile specialists are now planning to estimate the cost of the damage caused by the extensive flooding in Tabasco state. The water levels will have to fall further until the extent of the damage to the road system can be ascertained however.
