Plans are in hand for a new four lane highway in Bangladesh to connect the cities of Dhaka and Chittagong. Various proposals are being made with regard to the route at present, with the intention of minimising the distance. One proposal is to build the road as near straight as possible so as to cut the distance to some 180km, with bridges where the route would cross over rivers along the way.
