New Holland Construction is updating its mid-size crawler excavator range with the new E175B and E195B models. These feature high performance and reliability, coupled with low fuel consumption and are said to offer high utilisation and good return on investment. The new machines form part of a development plan to update the entire range by 2010. The E175B and E195B benefit from the latest mechanical, hydraulic and structural advances. Both machines have longer undercarriages for greater stability, while the revised hydraulics provide greater breakout force and quicker cycling. The new CNH Tier3/Stage IIIa engines powering these machines have a higher displacement and increased power compared to the previous series, while offering lower fuel consumption and emissions output. These engines can also operate with fuels that contain up to 20% biodiesel.
The improved hydraulics offer greater precision, speed and simultaneous movement, while variable flow rate pumps allowing softer and more progressive control. In addition, the installation of a new filter and use of latest-generation hydraulic oils means that maintenance intervals are twice as long as for the previous series. Electronic controls allow the flow rate and the pressure of the auxiliary hydraulic line to be set from the cab using the onboard monitor, which is important when the operator wants to switch attachments. The E175B tips the scales at 18.7tonnes, has a four cylinder, 4.5litre diesel rated at 93kW with direct-injection, turbocharger and intercooler as well as a system that allows starting at temperatures as low as -25°C. The larger E195B weighs 20.3tonnes and is also powered by a four cylinder, 4.5litre diesel with similar features and again delivering 93kW |
