MAY TxDOT TONNAGE

The TxDOT highway letting is scheduled for June 10-11, 2008.  The total tonnage of hot mix being let is 309,005.                      .

PARTNERS IN QUALITY MEETINGS HELD IN BEAUMONT AND HOUSTON

TxAPA recently held Partners in Quality meetings in the Beaumont and Houston TxDOT districts. In Beaumont 34 members and guest met and discussed recommendations that were developed by the TxAPA membership and presented to the Beaumont District for their review and consideration. Following discussion and review the district decided to implement New General Design Notes for Asphalt Paving Operations. One of the major items included in the New General Design Notes include the mandatory use of the new RAP Special Provision on all asphalt projects. 

In Houston 30 members and guest attended the partnering meeting that included discussion on funding, thin overlays, RAP Special Provision, Warm Mix Asphalt, notched wedge joints, and the FHWA Stewardship Assessment Review program. The district stated that they are looking into going to more D-type mixes and more 11/2 inch lift mixes. They also reported that they are developing notes to use the new RAP Special Provision for their projects.
