The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), along with the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society and the Rubber Pavements Association recently held the 3rd conference on rubber modified asphalt. This event was held at the Radisson Hotel in Akron, Ohio on May 3 & 4, 2007.

"The focus of this conference is to attract and engage the asphalt and asphalt modifier producers" stated Michael Blumenthal, Senior technical Director of the RMA. "It is our contention that unless the asphalt industry fully understands the benefits of using modified asphalt, they will remain hesitant in adapting to this technology. This conference allows this important audience to hear about the changes in the industry, about state and federal programs that impact their industry, and provides an excellent networking opportunity found at no other conference" Blumenthal added.

The 3rd Rubber Modified Asphalt conference featured insightful presentations on the market conditions of asphalt production, production of ground rubber, quiet pavements, the recycling of rubber modified asphalt and the environmental considerations of leachate from asphalt and rubber.

The Rubber Modified Asphalt conference is offered on a biannual basis. The next conference is scheduled for 2009 in Akron, Ohio and will be part of the Rubber Division''s 100th anniversary celebration.

The Rubber Manufacturers Association is the national trade association for the rubber products industry. Its members include companies that manufacture various rubber products, including tires, hoses, belts, seals, molded goods, and other finished rubber products. RMA members employ over 120,000 workers and account for more than $21 billion in annual sales.
