From approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, the City’s Street and Traffic Engineering divisions will make road surface repairs on the approaches to Cimarron Bridge. The bridge will remain open throughout the maintenance work, though approach lanes may be slightly rerouted and drivers may experience backups.

The maintenance work will take place at both the east and west portals (the weight restriction devises resembling large, metal squares) located on the road before drivers access the bridge. The condensed traffic at these locations combined with this winter’s free-thaw weather cycles have caused ruts and pot holes in the road surface. Crews will temporarily remove the portals so they can mill and resurface the asphalt; creating a smoother road surface. Police will be on-scene while the portals are down to enforce the current weight restrictions.

The maintenance improvements are occurring on Saturday to avoid weekday rush hour traffic.
