| This summer, Pace Construction Company of St. Louis did a warm mix demonstration for MoDOT on Route H (Hall Road) in St. Louis County. Warm mix, a European technology, has several advantages including energy savings, reduction in joint bumps caused by expanding moisture, reduced emissions, ability to get density at lower temperatures and extension of the paving season by paving at cooler temperatures. Roger Brown of Pace Construction said that they used three different products--Sasobit and Aspha-min, both of which are granular and are introduced by a feeder / blower, and Evotherm, introduced in the form of liquid emulsions. |
