The Porous Pavement was Debut in Guangzhou City

A kind of new type porous pavement was debut in Longyuan Community, Liwan District, Guangzhou City, which can absorb water just like sponge. In order to solve the problem of runoff, the research and application of the porous pavement were made firstly in the old district of Guangzhou.
The porous pavement appears the same as traditional asphalt or concrete, but it is coarser than traditional asphalt because it is manufactured with open-graded coarse aggregate and the void spaces is so big that allow for infiltration.
According to the report ,the porous pavement costs about 100 yuan per square meter, less than two times as the traditional pavement and the maintenance is the same as it.
If the experiment on porous pavement achieved success, it will be spreaded to many lower old districts to promote the ecological cycle of the rainwater.
