A new aggregate recycling facility, part-funded by WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme), is set to produce almost 1.5 million tonnes of recycled aggregates and recycled concrete aggregates over the next five years.
Malcolm Construction Services, part of the Malcolm Group, was awarded £356,677 in funding to complete the £1.4 million project at a disused shipyard in Glasgow. The new facility, officially opened yesterday, will process construction, demolition and excavation waste collected using skips, bulk tipper haulage and even barges via the quayside facilities available on site.

The new facility, following the refurbishment of some of the existing buildings and improvements to the surrounding infrastructure, incorporates a materials separation line, recycled aggregate processing plant and associated mobile equipment. The aggregate recycling plant will ultimately produce around 350,000 tonnes per annum of 600 and 800 series aggregates, pipe bedding, sand bedding, and recycled concrete aggregates.
